Every order is supplied with a Certificate of Constancy of Performance and a Declaration of Performance (DoP). - Markets: building projects across Europe, including Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Estonia. - Customers: architects, contractors, facade suppliers and timber manufacturers. ## Two treatment routes NTL offers two documented treatment routes. They complement each other; one does not replace the other. ### SaferWood FP-X (https://www.ntl.se/products/saferwood-fp-x) Advanced polymeric fire protection for demanding exterior timber, usable without a coating. Technology from Chemco Inc. (USA), sold there as SaferWood, with continuous industrial fire-retardant treatment since 1981. NTL is the exclusive European partner for Chemco and SaferWood. - Fire performance: EN 13501-1, up to B-s1,d0, depending on the tested wood species, profile and configuration. - Exterior durability: EN 16755, DRF Class EXT (Method B), uncoated. Retained Euroclass B in SBI testing (EN 13823) before and after accelerated weathering. Supported by 10-year natural weathering data. - Wood species: Nordic Spruce, Thermally Modified Pine, Thermally Modified Spruce, Western Red Cedar, Western Red Cedar shingles. - Finish: natural or with a compatible architectural coating. - Typical uses: facade cladding and shingles. FAQ Q: What is SaferWood FP-X? A: An industrial fire-retardant treatment developed for exterior timber applications, applied through vacuum-pressure impregnation and designed to provide durable reaction-to-fire performance while preserving the natural character of the timber. It can be used with a range of timber species and configurations, subject to the relevant tested and classified setup. Q: What fire classification can SaferWood FP-X achieve? A: Up to B-s1,d0 according to EN 13501-1, depending on the timber species, dimensions, profile and tested construction. Classification applies to a specific tested configuration, so NTL reviews the proposed material and application before confirming the classification for each project. Q: How is the exterior durability documented? A: Tested according to EN 16755 - "Durability of reaction to fire performance - Classes of fire-retardant treated wood products in interior and exterior end use applications", achieving DRF Class EXT for exterior applications in an uncoated configuration. Also supported by a 10-year natural weathering test demonstrating retained fire performance after long-term exterior exposure. Q: Can SaferWood FP-X treated wood be painted? A: Yes. The coating system must be compatible with the treated timber, and the coating can affect reaction-to-fire performance. Where a specific fire classification is required, use a tested and documented coating system or confirm the proposed coating with NTL before application. Q: Does the treatment affect the appearance or colour? A: It gives a slightly warmer, golden tone - subtle on thermally modified timber, more noticeable on lighter species. Cladding boards are dried face-to-face so drying-stick marks stay on the reverse side; above approx. 30 mm some stick marks may be visible on one selected face. Q: Which species, dimensions and profiles are available? A: A range of species and configurations, including untreated and thermally modified timber. Not every combination is automatically covered by the same documentation. Send wood species, dimensions, profile drawing and intended application for confirmation. ### Koppers FlamePro (https://www.ntl.se/products/ntl-flamepro) Fire-retardant treatment for interior timber and wood-based panels, and for exterior products protected by a documented coating system. Based on Koppers FlamePRO technology. - Fire performance: EN 13501-1, up to B-s1,d0, depending on the tested wood species, profile and configuration. - Facades: SP Fire 105 documented systems, applying to the complete tested facade build-up, not the timber alone. - Wood species - solid wood: Nordic Spruce, Oak, Thermally Modified Pine, Thermally Modified Spruce. Wood-based panels: Birch Plywood, Spruce Plywood. - Compatible coatings: Teknos Teknoclad, Tikkurila Pinja Protect GM, interior finishes. - Typical uses: plywood wall and ceiling panels, oak battens, mouldings, joinery, thermally modified interior cladding, painted facade boards, exterior cladding and soffits. FAQ Q: What is Koppers FlamePro? A: An industrial vacuum-pressure fire-retardant treatment for timber and wood-based materials. It penetrates the wood and enhances reaction-to-fire performance while retaining much of the natural appearance. Used for interior and coated exterior applications, depending on the tested configuration. Q: What fire classification can Koppers FlamePro achieve? A: Up to B-s1,d0 according to EN 13501-1, depending on material, thickness, profile and tested construction. NTL confirms the relevant classification per project. Q: Can FlamePro be used with plywood and other wood-based panels? A: Yes - well suited for wall and ceiling panels, decorative surfaces, joinery and other interior elements. Classification depends on the specific panel product, thickness and tested configuration. Q: Can FlamePro treated wood be painted or coated? A: Yes, with selected coating systems. Outdoors a suitable coating protects the treated timber. Where a classification is required, the complete combination of substrate, treatment and coating must be supported by test and classification documentation. Q: Can Koppers FlamePro be used outdoors? A: Yes, with an appropriate documented coating system that is maintained per its requirements. For uncoated exterior use, SaferWood FP-X may be more appropriate. Q: Does the treatment affect appearance or colour? A: Very limited visual impact. Same drying-stick practice as above. Q: Is Koppers FlamePro documented for SP Fire 105 facade systems? A: Yes. Documented systems include coating solutions with Teknos Teknoclad and Tikkurila Pinja Protect GM, with facade build-ups, construction drawings and technical documentation. SP Fire 105 applies to the complete facade system, so species, coating, substrate, cavity and installation build-up must match the documented configuration. NTL can provide drawings and documentation for project review. ## From enquiry to delivery Typical lead time: approx. 4 weeks from confirmed order and receipt of material. 1. Project enquiry - share species, dimensions, profile, end-use and volume; NTL assesses whether SaferWood FP-X or Koppers FlamePro fits. 2. Project review - applicable tested configuration and documentation confirmed. 3. Quotation. 4. Material delivery to the plant. 5. Vacuum-pressure treatment - cycle approx. 2-3 hours. 6. Controlled drying - approx. 10 days. 7. Optional coating and quality control - compatible coating if specified, moisture checks, quality sign-off. 8.
